Hi Christopher,
My physical address is 8 Station Road, Melville, Kwa Zulu Natal, and business address is shop 1b, Bridgeport Centre, Southport and box number 947 Anerley 4230. My landline is 039 681 2008 and celphone 072 761 1736
Now you have me cornered!! just a joke. Anyway, thank you sov ery much for considering our letter and your promp reply.
The local newspaper, Herald, published an article for us last week, and we have gained two very recourceful members thereby. The one being an ex-policeman, and the other a black lady councillor with alot of experience. This is really fantastic, as we need all types of assistance on this project possible if any real change in the system is to be achieved.
Just for interest, I have even contacted Oprah Winfrey. Maybe she can whisper in Mr Mandela's ear so that the problem can be properly addressed, hey!
Anyway, have a magic day,
Memory

Dear Memory

Thank you very much for your e-mail.

Unfortunately it is Witness policy not to consider for publication any letter until we know the physical address as well as contact telephone number of our correspondents. These details are required for record purposes and only names and places are published.

I look forward to hearing from you soon so that your letter can be printed.

Kind regards

Christopher Merrett

Subject: Male Rape In Our Holding Cells

TO: The Editor

Kindly consider publishing my letter to the public, which is of grave concern to us all, especially if we have young sons in our households.
My personal contact numbers are 039 681 2008 / 072 761 1736.

Thank you greatly,
Memory

Male Rape In Our Holding Cells

The trial awaiting cells, or holding cells as it is commonly known, is where crime suspects are being held awaiting their court date.
Every one is put into the same cell, as you are considered innocent until proven guilty.
The crime can range from not paying a speeding fine, drunken driving to serial rapist and mass murderer.
Once the door is locked behind you, there is no help for you and you need to survive by your wits. You do not stand much chance of surviving with your pride in tact against the gang of hardened criminals you meet up with in there.
Especially at night when the lights go off, and their singing drowns your voice.
We have established an organization called Together Against Crime which is a non-governmental and non-profit institution. Your input will be greatly appreciated.
We can be found on our brand new website, www.togetheragainstabuse.bravehost.com <http://www.togetheragainstabuse.bravehost.com>  and by celphone. Merely sms the word togetheragainstabuse to the number 33003.
We are establishing links with other existing organizations for strength.
Our issue at hand is jail rape, and we are also calling for the installation of cctv inside the holding cells and bathrooms, where most of the crime takes place.
We hope to assist both the potential rape victims and rape victims.
Please join us in our fight against this soul destroying practice.
Thank you kindly,
Memory Pieterse
